Hello everyone! Total animal lover here, of course lol.
Currently, I have four rescue squirrels. The first three I rescued earlier this year at about 5 weeks of age. They are now thriving. The plan is to winter them then find a suitable location for release around spring next year.
My fourth squirrel, Luna (grey squirrel), came to me mid August. She was observed falling out of a tree a couple of times and was very disoriented. Found some wonderful help from squirrelforum.com that got me hooked up with a vet out in Iowa who was willing to treat her. Quite a drive from IN but well worth it. Her outcome: spinal compression (tail doesn't work well); badly broken tibia; lung contusions (which meant no surgery). The vet splinted her leg the best she could.
We are now on day 30 of the one month healing process. I am getting ready to transfer from the cat carrier to her critter nation condo. We will then start building those muscles back up.
