WE ASSIST WITH ADOPTION
With the P’Nut the squirrel story taking national stage the debate rages on regarding so-called pet squirrels. Persons on social media have made broad statements that the “intrusive” state took the persons “pet” squirrel. Squirrels are not “pets” and are in fact property of the state in all jurisdictions. Most states allow hunting and several allow persons to possess live squirrels.
We do not advocate for “pet” squirrels or squirrel “ownership”. One must follow the laws of the state they hold the squirrel in. We assist locating true non-releasable animals for proper homes and give proper care advise. All state and federal laws are followed and we can help you get a permit in states where legal. If you don’t ask us you won’t know what’s possible.
Some of our criteria include but are not limited to:
- Sufficient income to properly care for a squirrel
- Homes with no little / irresponsible kids, cats or aggressive dogs
- Cleanliness inspection and safety
- Understanding and wiliness to learn proper care, feeding and enrichment
Contact us if you want to adopt and we will discuss all aspects of adoption. We will NOT assist people like those featured in the P’Nut story. Make no mistake they and they alone are responsible for their situation. A non-releasable squirrel is a family member to be cherished, not exploited!
